SB77G5 – SFF barebone Shuttle
announced its new development – barebone system SB77G5 XPC-platform.
This model is the next in the company’s product line for Pentium4.
SB77G5 – the first development for the LGA 775 socket. T.e. meets all modern
requirements and standards. And if before mini-computers were not only reduced
in size, but also seriously inferior in performance to their full-size
desktop counterparts, the SB77G5 model will easily give odds to many full-size
Shuttle’s SB77G5 XPC Platform Features:
- the platform is designed for LGA 775 Pentium4 processors;
- the used set of system logic – i875P, respectively, there is also an acceleration mode
memory – PAT;
- DDR400 support;
- AGP 8x graphical interface;
- the ability to work in conjunction with ECC memory – error correction mode;
- Serial ATA RAID support;
- the presence of a 1 Gbps network controller;
- support for IEEE-1394a and SPDIF ports;
As you can see, there is a very decent list of options and capabilities that modern chipsets provide
(meaning i875P) squeezed into a small-sized computer. Thanks to this, such
minicomputer is no longer just a “typewriter”, as most barebone systems used to be,
since they were based on outdated logic sets and low-performance processors, but is
a very productive workstation, besides, it is also convenient to use, because.to. system
takes up very little space, has a large number of all kinds of interfaces and connectors,
which you may need in your work.
The only unclear point and potential drawback is the cooling system. It is known that
Shuttle SB77G5 has a 92mm fan. But since Pentium4 is used, the i875 chipset and
other modern elements that generate heat intensively, then there are some concerns about
cooling level. However, practice will already show this.
