ADSL2 +: technology implementation will take place at least next year
As noted by Silicon reviewers
Strategies citing DSL Prime, controller supply delays are shifting
implementation of ADSL2 + technology for 2021. Recall that ADSL2 + is a standard,
approved by ITU in January 2021. It is based on ADSL and allows you to increase
downstream transmission frequency from 1.1 to 2.2 MHz. Theoretical peak speed
data transfer using ADSL2 + is up to 25 Mbps.
Various chip manufacturers and DSLAM vendors have presented solutions using
ADSL2 + and promised to start mass adoption of the technology this year, but, judging
according to the latest data, everything will be still only in a year. As noted by Dave Berstein,
the author of the letter with the message from DSL Prime, some vendors still promise
more than customers get.
Of course, a number of problems have been resolved, samples of microcircuits for new equipment have already
available, a number of companies are moving to “field testing” technology, but there are
messages about delays in the execution of orders, which, firstly, indicates
about real problems with supplies, and, secondly, it can result in the transfer
most of the orders for the next year. Among the main problems is the lack of ADSL2+
modems and working chipsets on the market. So by the time the modems are
thoroughly tested and massively presented on the market, may occur and
some more additional problems. Alas, it turns out that implementation forecasts
ADSL2 + until the end of 2021 was based on a commitment to do so
from just one DSLAM manufacturer ..
