Spring IDF Day 1: New Intel Flash Chips

In addition to mobile PC concepts, the Intel Developer Forum showcased new flash memory prototypes released in accordance with 90nm and 65nm process technology.

90nm NOR flash memory chips based on the Sibley family’s multi-level cell technology (MLC) operate at clock speeds up to 108 MHz and provide write speeds of up to 500 Kbps. Intel believes that these chips, whose capacity reaches 512 Mbit, will be of interest to cell phone manufacturers.

Along with flash memory chips, Naubinway software was demonstrated, which is the next generation of the FDI (Flash Data Integrator) file system for storing multimedia data.

Finally, the Sixmile flash memory product family is targeted at the embedded market and is expected to be used for 65nm processes.
