OCZ Technology Introduces DDR1-772 MHz
Yesterday, the Californian company OCZ Technology, which specializes in the supply of system memory for high-end systems (as well as any other classes), announced a new speed record for mass-produced memory modules.
These are DDR1 memory modules (the unit is underlined by the manufacturer), designed for a frequency of 772 MHz with delays (timing) 3-4-4. These speed characteristics allow the new modules to outperform the fastest DDR2 modules in the bandwidth tests. As noted by Dr. Michael Schuette, director of technology development at OCZ, it is too early to write off DDR1 memory, its use is due to both excellent speed characteristics and more humane prices compared to DDR2. Its use is especially justified in high-performance systems based on AMD64 processors.
By the way, yesterday AMD demonstrated the work of new dual-core Athlon64 processors as part of desktop systems on today’s motherboards, developing the idea of the imminent availability of an upgrade of all existing AMD64-based systems, and not just servers, as we wrote a few days earlier.
